The 1976 Garden is an intimate courtyard space located along the eastern edge of Lourie-Love Walk at Butler College.
This small garden features two redbud trees and a sourwood tree carefully positioned on either side of a walking path composed of sustainably harvested black locust planks and quartzitic sandstone salvaged from the excavation of the Princeton Neuroscience Institute and Peretsman Scully Hall foundations.
The two black locust logs, settled amidst planting beds filled with the early spring blooming hellebore, Christmas fern, and hay-scented fern, provide the opportunity for outdoor seating within the garden at an elevation that is one story lower than the adjacent campus circulation.
